Please try these steps:

2/ Click on the activation link
3/ It takes you to a new window
Follow it until you are inside the members area.
If you close it halfway, your account won't be activated.
if this happens, just go back to your email and redo the steps.
IF AFTER YOU HAVE DONE THAT, but still can't log in, please report error immediately.
